WOW (Hexagram 19 -- THE BEGINNING OF INSIGHT, and Hexagram 56 -- THE RECOGNITION OF WISDOM)

The search for truth proceeds, in metaphysics as in other areas, by perseverance in the face of self-doubt until skepticism is overwhelmed by evidence internal and external.

(Was there something in you when you were nineteen or so, that just wanted to push beyond the walls of the world you knew so far?)

***************

I wonder ... if Hexagram 19 is a precursor to Hexagram 56, THE TRAVELLER ... or if 56 is an evolution of 19 ... In my mind, the human "figure" or archetype for 19 is the Seeker or Explorer ... for 56, the Wanderer or Traveller ...

The Seeker is looking for something ... The Wanderer is simply ... looking ... and listening ... and moving on ...

19 = Curiosity as an urge to seek knowledge and truth ...

56 = Curiosity as a meandering, pattern-recognizing reception of wisdom ...

19 = Moving toward ... stepping up ... entering ... looking for ... going ahead -- very active focus and intent outward ... Looking for and examining evidence ... Meeting others while forging a self ...

56 = Moving around ... stepping along ... lingering ... looking into ... going within ... very active focus and intent inward ... Recognizing and integrating evidence ... Disengaging from others while realizing essential interbeing ...

Self-doubt is one of my weaknesses, which I am being stretched to refute.

What a beautiful phrase, "stretched to refute" ... I wonder if that's a way of also repenting something ... like self-doubt ... xo

I am learning something lately very basic ... the message is something like this: "You have a self, girl; you *are* a self; so get over your *self* like you are tumbling a slo-mo somersault into a deep, warm pool. Then, only then, will you get yourself out of the doubt ..."

Then the skeptic in me rebuts. "Ha! You want me to be friends with my self. Ho ho, that's a good one!"

... and so it goes ... ;-D

I'm learning that wisdom is in what we choose to do with experience ...

Everything lately seems to be coming down into *choice* ... realizing our capacity to choose, and using it well ...

... hee hee, like right now --> I have a load of dishes waiting in the sink ... ! ;-D
