Peace and fleas (Hexagram 11, PEACE)

We have to fight them daily, like fleas, those many small worries about the morrow, for they sap our energies…. The things that have to be done must be done, and for the rest we must not allow ourselves to become infested with thousands of petty fears and worries ... Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will also be in our troubled world.

Thanks for this; I'm going to copy and use it as a meditation at the beginning of the weekly class I facilitate on Tuesdays. Very thought provoking and wonderful.

@Jan, Yes -- these words stopped me cold ... The longer I live, the more I see this truth -- that we need to come to some resolution and at least a truce with ourselves and our habits of mind in order to be sane ... It does feel like a "moral duty" to me, to be lucid and kind ... starting with myself ...

P.S. I just checked one of my stat counters and this is the 500th *Pushing Fifty Gently...* post!!

OOPS -- I meant *Quoteable I Ching*!

However, this batty boo-boo goes to show just how much I am brain-farting these days ... Being at peace with this includes lots of wry smiling ...
