You never know where the oracle will take you...

Have you ever wondered what songs might go with certain hexagrams? ... I was at the kitchen sink a few minutes ago, idly washing dishes, when Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" began to play in my mind. My next thought: Hmm...that sounds like STAGNATION (H12) ...

Then off I went on one of my tangents -- started to think on Floyd's classic album, Dark Side of the Moon (yes, I came of age in the 70s). By the time I got to my keyboard, I'd thought of several other Dark Side songs that could pony up with different hexagrams:

"Us and Them" suggests Hexagram 38, CONTRADICTION, while "Money" exposes the shadow side of Hexagram 14, GREAT POSSESSION. "The Great Gig in the Sky" sounds to my soul's ear like Christ's last cries on the cross -- and like Hexagram 23, SPLITTING APART.

I'm going to head off now and listen to the album while I clean out the fridge (that will likely sound -- and smell -- like Louden Wainwright's "Dead Skunk"!) ... I'll see what other hexa-musical connections reveal themselves...
